The COVID-19 pandemic is causing such chaos right now. If you are anything like me, the fear of the unknown is a very scary thing to think about. This virus has caused a lot of unknown, especially in the wedding industry. Couples who have been planning their wedding for months on end are finding out that they are required to cancel/reschedule their anticipated wedding date. The unimaginable has occurred to couples all over the world and we as wedding professionals need to walk alongside to serve in the best ways that we can. I wanted to write this article to share all of the ways I am caring for my clients during this trying time.
Communication has always been a top priority for my company, especially now during this pandemic. I have done everything I can to be available to all of my clients. I have sent out an email to each client getting married in March – June informing them of my cancellation and rescheduling policies, rescheduling fees, and elopement coverage. Each and every client should know that I am here for them every step of the way.
I have decided to waive all cancellation and rescheduling fees for all of my clients directly affected by the virus. Each client’s data is subject to be rescheduled within one year (12 months) of their original wedding date. This will give each client ample time to plan, reschedule and work with all vendors to ensure that they can have the wedding that they originally planned. To preface this, I am washing my hands, social distancing and maintaining proper hygiene as well.
Knowing how difficult this time is for everyone, I wanted to be able to bless my couples affected. Most, if not all will choose to get married on the date that they had planned with a small ceremony. I have offered free elopement coverage for all of my clients who have had to reschedule due to the virus. This allows them to get married on their date but also have the wedding reception of their dreams! The last thing couples need to be dealing with is stressing about paying for more wedding coverage.
Let’s be real, having to pay for a wedding is super expensive. The virus is causing a lot of stress financially and the last thing I want is for someone to not be able to book their photographer because of a high retainer fee. I have decided to drop my retainer fee down to $500 to book my services. Ultimately I want to serve my clients in the best way possible however that may be.
When it comes down to it, I didn’t want to be another person writing about the COVID-19 virus. As much as I have been avoiding it, it’s imperative that we talk about it and the hope that we can find at the end. My hope and trust is in Jesus, but if your trust is in something else, cling to it. Seeing the human race come together in times like these gives me hope in a chaotic world. Cue High School Musical’s “We are all in this together.”
If you or someone you know had their wedding canceled due to the COVID-19 virus, contact me and I will make my services available or help find a photographer who is available to capture and preserve your memories. If you need anything, let me know!
